A man will appear in court today in connection with a fire at a care home that left a severely disabled woman fighting for her life.
Sabbir Ahmed, 22, of Doveton Street, Bethnal Green, will stand trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court charged with arson with intent to endanger life and recklessness with intent to endanger life.
A team of 15 firefighters from Barking fire station spent three hours battling flames at Lynwood Care Home, in Beccles Drive, Barking, on November 13 last year.
Donna Stringer, 43, who has learning difficulties and uses a wheelchair, was rushed to hospital at the time in a critical but stable condition.
