A police investigation is underway after robbers targeted a jewellery shop in Barking yesterday morning.

The robbery took place in London Road while a member of staff was opening the store at 9.22 am.

A number of items of jewellery were stolen, although the shop is yet to tell the police the value of the items. No arrests have been made.

This is the second time a London Road shop has been robbed this year - in January, £50,000 worth of jewellery was stolen by three men as the owner was tied up and punched.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should call the police on 101.
