A Barking mother who killed her 12 year-old autistic son with a cup of bleach after social services failed to act on her mental health problems was jailed for seven years today.
Satpal Kaur Singh, 44, forced Ajit Singh to swallow Domestos because she feared that he would be taken away by care workers from their Lambourne Road home.
Neighbours, schoolteachers and staff from the London borough of Barking Dagenham had been aware of her problems for up to six years, the Old Bailey heard.
She had refused outside help and even complained that a social services manager had referred to her as ‘another Victoria Climbie.’
