A man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis following a fire at a Dagenham house.
Police and firefighters were called to the fire in Campden Crescent at 4.45am on Monday.
The roof of the two-storey semi-detached home was destroyed, and damage was also caused to the first floor.
Following an investigation by the London Fire Brigade and by police, a 55-year-old unemployed man was arrested for cultivation of cannabis and extracting electricity.
He has been released on police bail until April 3 pending forensic reports.
