Residents can make a life-saving blood donation which are needed for the treatment of some of the most vulnerable patients.

The blood donation day will be held at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club in Victoria Road, Dagenham on May 17 between 1.30pm and 3.45pm and between 5pm and 7.45pm.

Nationally, more than 7,000 units of blood are needed every day by hospitals treating cancer patients, those who have been involved in accidents and by women who experience complications during childbirth, among other medical emergencies.

Anyone wanting to donate for the first time should be aged between 17 and 65, weigh at least 50kg (7 stone 12lbs) and be in general good health.
