A Dagenham supermarket is throwing its weight behind a group of police officers taking part in a 12-hour sponsored Help for Heroes bike ride.

ASDA, in Merrieland Crescent, have raised 1000 for the officers, who will be riding their bikes around Eastbrookend Country Park between 7am and 7pm on Saturday.

The gruelling bike ride is in aid of Help for Heroes, a charity formed to help troops wounded in conflict.

ASDA, who have been selling Help for Hero wrist bands, will be handing over the cash to Sergeant Liz Clark at the store tomorrow afternoon, as well as free bananas and water to help them on the day.

Staff will also be giving out free copies of The Post, in exchange for a small donation to the charity.
