POLICE and pupils have teamed up to deliver food parcels to elderly residents who may have struggled to get out and about during the cold weather.
Youngsters at Thomas Arnold Junior School, Rowdowns Road, Dagenham packed the food parcels and handed them to officers from River Safer Neighbourhood Team who delivered them to River Ward pensioners.
The team took advantage of the opportunity to provide information on crime prevention and bogus callers and also to discuss any concerns residents may have.
Sergeant Rob Bell said: “This initiative relied totally on the generosity of the families of children attending Thomas Arnold School. As a direct result of this generosity we have been able to identify who our more vulnerable residents are, provide some useful advice and reassurance while also giving them a food parcel. It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in such a worthwhile campaign.”
