The acting deputy headteacher of a primary school has been suspended following an arrest on an allegation of Grievous Bodily Harm.
Yogesh Lungoomiah, of Eastbury Primary School, was arrested after police were called to reports of “two men fighting” at a home in Gosfield Road, Dagenham, at around 1.30am on Saturday, January 26.
One man was taken to a local hospital for treatment following the incident but police said his injuries were not life threatening or life changing.
A council spokesman said Mr Lungoomiah has been sent home on paid leave from the school in Dawson Avenue, Barking, while the matter continues to be subject to an investigation.
Mr Lungoomiah has been released on bail and police enquiries are ongoing.
