MADE in Dagenham, the inspiring story about Ford workers battling for equal pay in the 1960s, has been longlisted for 13 BAFTA film awards.
The movie, which hit cinema screens across the world last year, is up for for Best Film, Director, Original Screenplay, Make Up and Hair, Sound, Editing, Costume Design and Original Music.
Sally Hawkins, who plays feisty factory worker Rita, is nominated in the Leading Actress category while Bob Hoskins picks up a supporting actor nomination for his role as union steward Albert. Three more Made in Dagenham stars, Rosamund Pike, Miranda Richardson and Geraldine James, are nominated in the Supporting Actress category.
Made in Dagenham, partly shot in the borough, is based on the 1968 strike at the Dagenham Ford Plant, which saw women workers down tools and demand the same pay as their male counterparts. Their courageous stand led to the introduction of the Equal Pay Act.
The BAFTA shortlist will be announced after February 8 and the final results will be revealed at the star-studded ceremony on February 13.
