The council has been awarded the contract to manage a new Dagenham Park.
The Beams Parklands, which spans the equivalent of 75 football pitches, is expected to open in July near the old Ford site.
Owners the Land Trust has secured an endowment of 1.9million from the Homes and Communities Agency to cover all future management and maintenance cost for the new park.
This money will also allow for the recruitment of a new ranger specifically to work on the parklands.
