Neill Buchel murder: Mother of butchered dad-of-two speaks out

Trish Kell, 68, last saw her son alive in February last year, just weeks before ten of his dismembered body parts were found in the White Hart Lakes in Eastbrookend Country Park.

Chas Quye and Elvis Kwiatkowski, both 36, were last week both handed life sentences for his murder and ordered to serve a minimum of 21 years – but Trish says this is not enough punishment.

“The 21 years is going to take the best part of their lives away,” she told the Post from her home in South Africa.

“The only problem is that they will still be alive when that time is up – it’s not true justice.

“I feel sorry for the British tax-payers that have got to support them.”

Although the pair denied murder, Quye admitted to chopping up his “friend” with a handsaw and Stanley blade, and even considered taking the dismembered pieces on public transport.

Asked what she feels for the men involved, Trish replied: “Hatred, absolute hatred. They have torn a family apart.

“I’m not saying Neill was the greatest – he had his problems – but the way they callously did this and then denied it, before standing up in court and being so brazen about cutting him into pieces, even talking about taking his body on a bus.”

She added: “I’ve never been a proponent of the death penalty but I could very easily stand there and watch them being put to death.”

Trish actually spoke to Quye over the phone on the afternoon of March 16 – the very day he dumped her son’s body parts in the lake.

“Neill and I spoke most days on the phone,” she explained.

“He had asked me to send some money over but he didn’t answer his phone.

“I spoke to Chas on the Sunday and asked him where he was – he told me he was probably lying drunk somewhere.

“I said, ‘My God if I find out you have done something, you will get caught.’

“These were the guys that beat him up before.

“I knew they had done something because he hadn’t spoken to me or his daughters which was very unusual.

“The fact is he could just say that to me over the phone, and even phone Neill’s phone to keep up the pretence.

“What kind of sub-human beings do that? You can’t comprehend people like that.

“When he stood up in court was he looking for his five minutes of fame?”
