A suspected grenade was found in Barking today.
Officers were called to a construction site at Balmoral Trading Estate in River Road at 10am, after someone reported finding what they thought was a grenade.
Nearby roads were closed, a cordon was put in place, and the fire brigade and ambulance service turned up at the scene.
Specialist officers arrived to carry out an assessment – but found the device to be a fake.
Road closures have now been lifted.
