A home was taped off by officers on Monday following a police search involving sniffer dogs and a helicopter.
Officers were seen searching gardens in Woodward Road, Dagenham, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A spokesman confirmed officers also attended homes in Ellerton Gardens.
“We are not prepared to discuss further at this early stage due to operational reasons,” he added.
Enquiries continue. Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
