Crimes including serious youth violence and personal robbery fell by more than one third, new annual figures show.
Barking and Dagenham’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) has produced its annual report on crime across the borough, showing the results of its focus on four key areas including anti-social behaviour and serious youth violence.
The figures, published in the CPS annual report on July 23, shows the number of first time entrants to the youth justice system more than halved within a year.
Calls to the council’s anti-social behaviour team also fell by more than 18 per cent and the theft of motor vehicles was reduced by more than one fifth.
Only residential burglary saw an increase with seven per cent more crimes of this nature recorded last year.

Overall crime within the borough was down by just over eight per cent, a greater reduction than the London average decrease of five per cent over the same period.
The CPS sees emergency services working alongside the council, the National Health Service, the probation service and voluntary organisations in a bid to reduce crime and the fear of crime.
