The families of serial killer Stephen Port’s victims have smashed their £10,000 fundraising drive to get justice for their loved ones.
Relatives raised £12,070 towards getting the best legal representation possible ahead of inquests into the deaths of Anthony Walgate, 22 from Hull, Daniel Whitworth, 21 from Gravesend, Jack Taylor, 25, from Dagenham and 22-year-old Gabriel Kovari from Slovakia.
In a message to supporters, the families said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by all of your messages of support and kindness. To say we’re grateful doesn’t even cover it – thank you.”
The families have set a new target to raise £50,000 within 30 days with a guarantee of receiving every donation.
Port, 43, was given a whole life sentence in November 2016 after a jury found he gave his victims fatal doses of date rape drug GHB before dumping their bodies near his flat in Cooke Street.
