A motorist from Dagenham who was caught drug driving has been given a suspended jail sentence and banned from going behind the wheel for a year.

Martin Horlick, 38, of Millard Terrace, was initially stopped by police in Clacton for having no MOT on February 20 this year.

However when officers approached his car they smelt cannabis so carried out a search and found a box of cannabis plants, a tin containing a green herbal substance, and a canister for CS Spray.

Last week at Ipswich Crown Court sentenced to 21 months in prison, suspended for two years and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

He had previously appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 3 where he admitted drug driving, production of cannabis, possession of cannabis, and possession of a weapon for the discharge of a gas incapacitation device at a previous hearing.
