Dean Pascal-Modeste, 21, aka Floss, was the innocent victim of the dispute between the B Side gang and the rival Splash gang in south-east London, the Old Bailey was told.

He was knifed 14 times in the street in broad daylight on February 24 this year, not because of who he was but who he was with, jurors heard.

Before the attack, both sides had taunted each other in YouTube rap videos, some featuring Westwood.

B Side lyrics included the provocative words “dip (stab) Splash till the Splash is done” and described their rivals as “jokers” and “dickheads”.

Splash bragged in turn about being the “kings of Lewi” (Lewisham) and posted a music session with Westwood on YouTube in which a girl was disparagingly described as a “B Side paigon ho” - meaning lying prostitute.

Antagonism between the gangs reached a crisis point when a young woman was stabbed after she appeared to switch allegiances. Her attacker was jailed for 22 years for attempted murder.

B Side associates were allegedly among the group of young men who armed themselves with guns and knives and chased Mr Pascal-Modeste down like a “pack of wolves”.

Corey Donaldson, 18, from Deptford, and Alex Scott, 18, from New Cross, both in south London, were found guilty of murder but Uzoeme Emeofa, 19, was acquitted.

Donaldson was also convicted of possessing an offensive weapon after 29 hours of deliberations.

Detective Inspector Richard Leonard, who lead the murder hunt, said.: “I honestly believe that Dean was not the intended target of Scott and Donaldson. He did not live in the Mottingham area and from what we know had no associations with the locality.

“However, it appears the defendants were involved in a dispute with Dean’s friends and they attacked Dean merely because he was with them that day.

“This was a brutal attack carried out in broad daylight in front of shocked residents - Dean simply didn’t stand a chance.

“I can only hope that today’s convictions can help his family begin to move on from this horrific chapter in their lives.”

They were remanded in custody to be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
