FIVE TV licence evaders are caught each day in Barking and Dagenham, figures reveal.
More than 2,000 people were snared by enforcement officials using vans and handheld detectors last year, TV Licensing said.
This was less than the 3,400 people found watching the box without a licence in Newham and around 2,100 in Redbridge.
Across the UK, there were 400,000 evaders in the UK, five per cent of people who own a telly.
TV Licensing warned they could face prosecution or 1,000 fines.
