Like Boris Johnson and David Cameron before him, Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas has cut short his holiday to deal with the London riots.

The MP is travelling back from Ireland to attend an emergency session of Parliament on Thursday.

He said: “Following recent events, as they have unfolded in the media, as the MP for Dagenham & Rainham. I wish to personally send my thanks to the police, fire brigade, ambulance and local council workers, for the way they have dealt with an extremely difficult situation, with bravery and courage.

“I know that our local communities will join with me in commending all those that are dealing with the situation, but we need to understand that these are the actions of a small number of people, who have orchestrated the violence, often from outside our communities.

I support the re-calling of Parliament as this needs to be debated urgently, and I send my sincerest sympathies to those who been affected by these events,” he added.
