Taking his love for Star Wars to another level, one actor went out of his way to speak with JJ Abrams — who is set to direct the sci-fi series in its upcoming revitalisation — and beg for a part.
Cole Dines of Chittys Lane, Dagenham, was in the crowd as the director was signing autographs at the premier of his latest film Star Trek: Into Darkness last month.
“I said to him, ‘So JJ, are you going to cast me in Star Wars?’ and he told me, ‘Sure’,” explained Cole who also handed the director his business card and filmed the exchange on his camera.
Since getting the tongue-in-cheek confirmation, Cole, 40, has set about seeing if he might not be able to turn it into something real, by picturing himself dressed as one of the series’ infamous bounty hunters and preparing an audition tape.
“The suit cost me quite a bit of money and I had to piece it together bit by bit, but hopefully JJ Abrams will be impressed,” he said.
Abrams is set to direct episode seven of the global movie franchise created by George Lucas.
