A car crash victim was rushed to hospital after a town centre collision last night.

The 23-year-old man was driving a silver VW Passat when he was involved in a smash with a silver Ford Mondeo in Hedgemans Road, Dagenham.

Dagenham firefighter Chris Layton said the driver drifted in and out of consciousness and was given oxygen before medics arrived at the scene of the crash.

The Mondeo driver sustained a wrist injury and the 23-year-old was taken to Queen’s Hospital with neck pains at around 7.45pm.

Mr Layton said the Passat had extensive damage as it hit a bollard after the crash.
