Parking charges were reintroduced at Fiddlers Junction today after a temporary suspension was lifted.

The council has now installed a coin machine in the Dagenham car park in what a spokesman described as a “temporary compromise” following complaints from drivers about the RingGo parking system.

He added that usage will be analysed closely.

The council initially introduced parking charges by phone app or call on February 4 but suspended it pending a review two days later after an outcry from business owners.

The charges were dismissed as the work of a “buffoon” by the manager of The Golden Fish, Jason Aiken.

Parking in the car park outside the parade of shops had previously been free.
