BUDDING master chefs with a green conscience were eager to test out their new prize equipment after winning a national competition.
Year Three pupils at Godwin Primary School, Finnymore Road, Dagenham, won food processors for their school's cookery classes after putting together dishes with the lowest amounts of food miles.
Lynn Pettet, teaching assistant at Godwin School, said: "The children were really over the moon.
"It was a really good experience and it made the children aware of where the food comes from."
The competition was run by the British Food Fortnight and the school entered at the end of last year.
At the end of January, Godwin School was announced as one of the regional winners for their menu of vegetable soup, bread rolls, Fritatas and Fruit Crumble.

The school arranged a visit to the Allotment Association in Hedgemans Road, who donated huge amounts of vegetables for the project.
Marriages Flour in Chelmsford donated 10kgs of flour for the bread rolls while the allotment vegetables supplied for the delicious root vegetable soup.
Ms Pettet said: "The whole meal came from literally across the road."
She said that the school had included cookery in its curriculum and was running out of school cooking classes and added: "We have quite a lot of children that are really interested in cookery.
