A Dagenham man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon

A teenager has been charged with possessing a Samurai-style sword.

Geoffrey Goodwin, of Roosevelt Way, Dagenham, was charged on Wednesday with carrying the offensive weapon.

The 19-year-old appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court the next day where he was remanded to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 28.

Goodwin was arrested by officers from Tower Hamlets in Langdon Park at around 6.30pm where he was found to be in possession of a Samurai-style sword.
