A man was fined this morning after racially abusing somebody in a police custody base.

Liam Pickering, 20, pleaded guilty to the offence, which he committed at Fresh Wharf Custody Suite in Muirhead Quay, Barking, on September 17.

Appearing at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court, Pickering was fined £75 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation to his victim.

Pickering, who lives in Scholars Way, Dagenham, was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and prosecution costs of £85 were also imposed.
