Kind-hearted pupils swapped their school uniforms for bright red outfits to raise hundreds of pounds for a hospice which helps terminally-ill children.

They took part in the Richard House hospice fundraiser at their school, Dorothy Barley Junior in Ivinghoe Road, Dagenham, yesterday.

Hospice fundraiser Hannah Bosley visited the school to tell pupils how staff assist the young patients and the pupils collected around £250 on the day.

School administrator Sally Crowley said: “A lot of parents participated in the fundraiser. This is the first time we’ve had the children’s hospice in. This is quite a good amount to have raised - It is a good cause.”
