The 21 pupils of William Bellamy School, of Frizlands Lane, Dagenham took a ride in the taxis as part East London Cabbies Outing on Wednesday.

The event, which was launched in 1952 and featured 100 cabs this year, sees children picked up from schools across East London and driven to Plume Secondary School in Maldon.

Events co-ordinator at William Bellamy, James Sterling, said: “When the kids arrived all the pupils from the school in Maldon were lining the streets and the mayor was there. They then all ate together in the hall.

“The children had a great time - they loved it.”
