DAGENHAM is fast becoming London's tinseltown with two films already being shot in the borough now the Fords women's struggle for equal pay will be immortalised on the big screen.
Last week the POST reported that acting legend Michael Caine and young British talent Danny Dyer were both on location here.
Now Sally Hawkins who won a Golden Globe for her role in Mike Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky this year will star in a film entitled We Want Sex.
The comedy is about the battle for equal pay fought by a group of female workers at the Ford Dagenham car plant in 1968.
The 5million film will begin shooting in June and is being produced by Number 9 films.
Directed by Simon Curtis, the film will centre on a strike at the factory, where 850 women walked out in protest against sexual discrimination.
The comical title We Want Sex refers to a demonstration banner which was supposed to read "We Want Sex Equality".
Later strikers realised the final word had gone missing.
During their strike, women raised the matter of equal pay for the first time to employment secretary Barbara Castle.
Their victory is seen as a landmark in the fight for equality in the workplace and the women's liberation movement.
Imelda Staunton is in talks to play Castle.
