EVEN the storm clouds and torrential rain of Sunday morning could not put off the brave and good-hearted who filled Dagenham and Redbridge's football ground for a charity run.

Not unusual you may think, but everyone was dressed as Santa, complete with hat and beard, and at the sound of a starting horn, shot off into the streets of Dagenham surrounding the ground for a 5km fun run.

More than 300 runners took part for the third annual Leukaemia Care run, this year joined by runners from St Francis Hospice, who not only swelled the number of Santas, but their coffers, with much needed funds.

As if to say well done, the early storm clouds ran off east and the run was blessed with brilliant sunshine to make the charity event even more enjoyable.
