A hair and makeup student has scored top marks for her incredible pop art-inspired make-up design.

Hannah Williams, who studies at Barking and Dagenham College, created the captivating look after being inspired by her beloved comic books.

“I wanted to do something that was really eye catching, so people would say ‘wow look at this,’” the 18-year-old, who lives in Dagenham, explained.

“I decided I would pick pop art as I’m into comics and a lot of famous people are starting to use it.

It took Hannah roughly an hour and a half to finish doing the make-up on her friend, Natalie Ferrol, for her art of photographic make-up assessment.

She then decided to add a wig to make it “more dramatic” – and her hard work paid off as she received a distinction.

The budding makeup artist hopes to work with celebrities, possibly on music and film sets, in the future.

Hannah’s lecturer, Shaneen Phipps, described her as an “amazing artist”.

Pop art is an art movement which draws inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture such as advertising and Hollywood movies.
