DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE manager John Still is still hopeful of strengthening his squad before the transfer window slams shut on Monday.

Crewe's Billy Jones still remains high on Still's list, despite the two club's unable to agree a fee for the former Leyton Orient man, but the Daggers boss has other targets in mind to fill the left back position.

"We want to bring in a permanent left back, because I like having my own players in," said Still. "There are two or three who we've identified as the right ones and now its about seeing what happens.

"We're still interested in Billy Jones, but it all depends on Crewe as we can't move on the offer we have made."

New signing Romain Vincelot made his debut in Saturday's reverse, as he came off the bench once Scott Doe had been sent off.

Still was impressed with the impact of the substitute, who he snapped up on a free transfer last Friday.

"I'm very pleased to bring him in," he confirmed. "He was recommended to me by someone I know well and we had a good look at him.

"I think he's a very good player who wants to make his mark in England.

"We needed another full back and he is also comfortable at left back too."
