FA YOUTH CUP

FIRST ROUND PROPER

Woking 3 Dagenham & Redbridge 1

DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE crashed out of the FA Youth Cup at the first hurdle last night when they went down to Blue Square South side Woking.

The youngsters had led at half time, but their opponents proved stronger after the break, to progress into the second round.

Jay Nash had put Daggers ahead on 14 minutes, with a wonderful solo effort as he picked the ball up in midfield, went on a mazy run before unleashing a superb left-footed show into the net.

Nash continued to be a threat during the opening 45 minutes, while Tony Martin also caused problems, but Woking looked like they were getting on top as the half finished.

It proved so too, as Anson Cousins was felled in the area before dusting himself down to convert the resulting spotkick.

The Cards soon drove home their advantage, as Ollie Palmer scored with a diving header and then Ola Sogbanmu made it 3-1.

Daggers tried to find a way back, but another promising Martin run was eventually blocked, and their task became a mountain to high to climb when they reduced to 10-men late on.
