Reading loanee Lawson D’Ath has extended his loan stay with the club for another month and now hopes to build on some encouraging performances.

The 21-year-old joined the club on an initial one-month deal from the Royals and has featured for the Daggers in their last four matches after the knee injury picked up by Billy Bingham at AFC Wimbledon in November.

D’Ath, kept out of the first game of his loan against Wycombe Wanderers due to injury, particularly impressed off the bench in the 1-0 loss to Portsmouth on Boxing Day and followed suit three days later in the 1-1 draw at Chesterfield laying on the ball which saw the Daggers awarded a first half penalty, which was missed by Zavon Hines.

And though frustrated that they didn’t pick up the three points on that occasion, the 21-year-old is enjoying life at Victoria Road.

“The boys have been great from day one and it didn’t take too long to settle in at all,” said D’Ath.

“It has taken me a little while longer than I’d like to find my form though, but I feel I am getting there and hopefully there is more to come.

“On a personal note it was nice to play well at Chesterfield, but the only disappointing thing for me was that we did not get the three points instead of the one.

“I felt we had more than enough chances in the game to win it but it was good to bounce back from a few poor results of late.”

Manager Wayne Burnett had always expressed his keenness to keep the midfielder at the club for a longer period of time, but at one stage was unsure whether the Championship club would extend their offer, which sees the Daggers pay nothing towards his loan.

However, Reading have been happy with his progress since making the temporary switch, and agreed to extend the loan for another month, which could see him feature in another six games for the club during that spell.

“Lawson came in at Chesterfield on Sunday and he played very well,” said Burnett.

“He has shown at lot of promise since he joined and we are very grateful that Reading have let us have him for nothing again.”
