DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE striker Mark Nwokeji is expected to return to training next week after almost a year out of action.
The forward last played for Daggers in a 1-0 defeat to Darlington on January 31, 2009, before rupturing the posterior cruciate in his left knee in a training ground collision.
But the 27-year-old, who has netted five times since joining the club, could force his way back into manager John Still's plans in the near future.
"Mark is making progress on his fitness recovery," said the manager.
"I would like to think that in the next few days he will join in full training. He's been really disappointed to pick up such a nasty injury and it has been a long road back for him, but we're looking forward to welcoming him back into full training.
"I hope he doesn't have any other setbacks and he can carry on in his efforts to regain full fitness and push himself back into the squad."
