DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE slumped to their first defeat at Victoria Road on the weekend as Rochdale leapfrogged them with two quickfire goals in the second half. Here is how we rated the players

GK: Tony Roberts - 6 - a virtual spectator in the first half and didn't have a great deal to do in the second despite the two goals.

RB: Nana Ofori-Twumasi - 8 - first chance for Daggers home fans to see the Chelsea youngster and he impressed, especially in the opening period. Very comfortable on the ball, which you would expect having grown up at Stamford Bridge, and looks an excellent prospect.

LB: Matt Lockwood - 7 - his corners cause no end of problems and he combined well with Gain on the left flank. May have been guilty of standing off Higginbotham for the equaliser though.

CB: Scott Doe - 7 - in his preferred position at centre half as he can concentrate on his main strengths which are reading the game and clearing the ball away.

CB: Will Antwi - 7 - should have scored twice in the first half, after meeting Danny Green corners and would have been disappointed not to. Will have to form a new partnership with Doe now after Mark Arber's absence through injury.

RW: Danny Green - 7 - sent over some excellent crosses from the right flank again, as Daggers took an early lead, but his influence waned as the game progressed.

CM: - Adam Miller 8 - another home debut and the Gillingham man looks to have a decent understanding with Thurgood. Almost got on the scoresheet too as he twice forced saves from Heaton

CM: Stuart Thurgood - 9 - STAR MAN - unfortunately injury curtailed his match after 69 minutes, but in the time he was on the pitch, he was the standout player. Flew into tackles with his usual tenacity and also showed some delightful passing, hopefully he's fit for Tuesday night.

LW: Peter Gain - 7 - back on the wing again and took him just four minutes to get onto the scoresheet. Showed a good understanding with Lockwood and was a big part of some of the fine football on display in the first half.

CF: Josh Scott - 7 - almost scored a wonder strike only for a stunning save by Heaton but his inexperience showed in the second half as he went for the top corner again when Miller or Benson were the better options.

CF: Paul Benson - 6 - doesn't look at his best for some reason as although he put the hard yards in, he didn't really have a sniff in front goal. No doubt he will bounce back in style soon though.

SUBS

Jon Nurse (Thurgood 69) - 5 - through no fault of his own, the absence of Thurgood changed the game immediately and Nurse couldn't get into the game after the two-goal burst.

Wes Thomas (Scott 73) - 4 - comically mis-kicked when in a good position towards the end before a red card received for a crude challenge on Dagnall ended a poor afternoon for the striker.

Abu Ogogo (Green 90) -.literally on for the dying seconds, so impossible to give a mark to!

SUBS NOT USED: Chris Lewington, Steven Demetriou, Tommy Tejan-Sie.
