Darren BARKER will aim to improve his already impressive CV at the Watford Colosseum on Saturday, when he makes the third defence of his Commonwealth middleweight title against Midlander Darren McDermott.
The Hennessy Sports show will be live on ITV4, providing fight fans with another opportunity to see one of British boxing's most exciting talents.
Barker, based at the Hainault gym of TBS Promotions' trainer Tony Sims, won the Commonwealth title during a 19-fight unbeaten campaign.
Barker plans a route to World title glory, starting with his Commonwealth title defence against McDermott which will also double as a final eliminator for Matthew Macklin's British title.
"First things first, I've got two potentially dangerous domestic fights to take care of before I can leave the British scene behind," he said.
Barker versus McDermott headlines an exciting night of boxing at the Watford Colosseum. In the chief support bout, Canning Town hope George Hillyard faces Matthew Thirlwall in a scheduled 10-round contest between hard-hitting rivals.
