Bellway Homes picked up a Housing Design Award for the most family friendly housing for its work on Buzzards Mouth Court in the Barking Riverside development.

In marking the award, designed by architects Sheppard Robson, judges considered the relationship between the development and its surroundings, the sustainability of the build, the layouts of the homes and their appearance and security.

Richard Burrows, managing director of Bellway said: “The development of Barking Riverside offers London’s workers a range of housing that is affordable and within a realistic commuting time of the capital.

“So far, the development is proving very successful, the feedback from the residents has been extremely positive, they like the feeling of living in a park environment with close proximity to water, they also like the contemporary design of the homes and the living space offered.”

Barking Riverside is a joint venture Between Bellway and the Greater London Authority to deliver 10,800 new homes on a 443 acre site that runs between the A13 and the River Thames.

When complete Barking Riverside will feature seven different neighbourhoods and a mix of tenures and housing types, to suit people of all ages from young families to elderly residents, which will border on parkland and the Thames riverside.
