DOCKLANDS picked up their first victory in the West Country since 2007 with a comprehensive defeat of City of Bristol.

With coach Ian Legrand on international duty with the Great Britain Sitting volleyball squad in Egypt, Andy Hopper took over the coaching duties and saw his side take the first set 25-22 after a Mohammed Sliti kill.

The visitors sprinted into a 9-3 lead in the second set, with Alexis Blair on form, and a stunning block by Alessandro Galli stretched the advantage to 19-10.

Slawek Omylski followed Galli's example with a clinical block as Docklands ran out 25-14 winners.

At 15-9 up in the third set it looked as though Docklands would close out the match 3-0, but Bristol clawed their way back and edged to a 25-23 success.

Hopper's side shook off this disappointment to quickly take control of the fourth set as blocks by Daniele Di Bella and Omylski alongside clever hitting by Blair, Riccardo Senatore and Sliti saw them go 11-5 up.

Back came Bristol to level at 16-16, but Blair eventually found his way through as Docklands won 25-22.

Victory secured third place in National One for Docklands and they host Cambridge this weekend.
