Newham Sports Development claimed victory at the inaugural Royal Docks five-a-side tournament recently.

After topping their league, Newham were in the final four with UEL Lions, City Airport and ESDS Eagles.

The Development side won through their semi-final stage, before overcoming City Airport to lift the trophy.

Eight teams in total took part, they were London City Airport, Gateway to London, Newham Hospital, Newham NHS, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation and the University of East London.

Presenting the trophies, Selena Bolingbroke, Director of External and Strategic Development Services at UEL said: "It has been an exciting competition and a brilliant turn-out for what we hope will be the first of many sports events.

"Congratulations to Newham for winning - it's interesting to see so many UEL graduates on the team!
