Families are set to come together to celebrate St George's Day with a free event in Chadwell Heath.
The fun day, at N&C Building Materials’ site in Freshwater Road, will feature activities including a funfair, craft stalls and a visit from the Dulux dog.
This is the eighth year the DIY superstore has held such an event within its ground and it’s for a good cause, too.
The fun day, on Saturday, April 21, will see money raised for Children Today, a charity which provides funds for speicalised equipment for children and young people with disabilities.
As the charity receives no government funding, it is reliant on voluntary donations through events like this to keep changing more children’s lives by providing grants for equipment like specially adapted trikes and wheelchairs.
Chief executive of Children Today Ben Partridge told the Barking and Dagenham Post: “We are very humbled that N&C Building Materials has once again chosen to support our charity at their annual fun day event.
“These much-needed funds make a real difference, giving the children and young people we support the ability to take part in activities or a lifestyle that they may not have been able to before.
“This helps give them more independence and the best possible quality of life and makes a huge difference to their whole family.
“It’s fantastic that a community event like this will go towards helping even more families.”
Other activities at the event, which has the Post as a media partner, include balloon modelling, face painting and a penalty shoot out competition.
There will also be a selection of food and drink stalls for those who want a light refreshment from all the family-orientated fun.
David Forbes, CEO of the N&C Group, said: “ We are proud to be supporting this key community event that brings local families together.”
The family fun day is taking place at N&C Building Materials’ Freshwater Road site from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, April 21.
There is free entry but donations towards Children Today are welcomed during the event.
