EAST LONDON enjoyed a fine week of action with victories for all of their teams.

The Men's side travelled to Saffron Walden in the East Men's League Division Three South East and came away with a 3-2 success.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, but the Sparrowhawks made the best of their chances and took a 1-0 lead into the half time break thanks to an opportunistic strike from Kevin Taylor.

The second period saw a long spell of dominance from East London, who capitalised on their pressure with goals from Adam Larkin and Chris Jones to make it 3-0 with only five minutes remaining.

However, a lack of concentration allowed Saffron Walden, who had looked dangerous at times, to grab two quick goals and have a third disallowed in the final minutes, leaving the visiting team feeling relieved to take all three points back to the capital.

The Ladies also had an away fixture at Witham and showed they should be considered league title contenders, putting eight goals past their opponents without reply.

The result left East London riding high in third place in Essex Division One.

The Men's second team also had a memorable victory, beating Redbridge and Ilford 7-1 at their home ground at Mile End Stadium.

Again the East London team were dominant from the start, with goals from Rob Rouse, Jeff Courtney, Keith Davidson, Dominic Mullender and Tom Eshelby leaving the result in no doubt.

This weekend the ladies entertain Phoenix seconds.
