Schoolchildren celebrated their Space to Earth Challenge achievements by visiting astronaut Tim Peake in Cologne.
Pupils from Northbury Primary School in Barking joined their peers from across the country for the trip to Germany.
The pupils were rewarded for completing a fitness challenge to run, swim, cycle or spacehop the 400km distance from Space to Earth.
Kulvinder Johal, assistant headteacher of the Northbury Close school, said: “It was an amazing opportunity and experience to be able to visit such a fantastic facility and then to be able to see Tim Peake going through his rehabilitation exercises.
“He is just as we see him on the television, has such warmth and friendliness and is so down to earth – when he has actually been out of this world.”
