A turban tying workshop was the highlight of a school’s international summer festival.
Iqbal Singh from Chardi Kala Turban Academy taught visitors during hands-on sessions at Henry Green Primary School in Dagenham on Saturday.
The around the world themed event also included culinary delights from a wide variety of countries and henna art.
More than 500 people braved the weather to enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle, performances by Katie Guyton Dance Academy and a range of stalls.
The event raised about £1,500 towards the Green Lane school’s playground equipment fund.
Social inclusion officer Jacqui Thomson said: “We are a diverse community with different races, backgrounds and religions and we wanted to bring everyone together and enjoy time together and celebrate what we have as a school.
“The rain held off and we had a great turn out so it was a fantastic day.”
Jacqui thanked parents, children and staff for their support and hard work.
The international festival was the first that the school has run for many years – and next year the organisers hope to make it even bigger and better.
