Pupils at a Dagenham school have helped to create more than 100 shoeboxes full of gifts.

Youngsters from All Saints Catholic School joined staff members in donating items for the Shoebox Appeal, which sees boxes wrapped in Christmas paper and filled with goods distributed to underprivileged children across the globe.

Once all the gifts had been collected, a team of staff and pupils gathered to wrap and pack the boxes.

The Terling Road school has supported the appeal, run by Operation Christmas Child, for many years.

Teacher Catherine Doyle, who coordinated the appeal, said: “Each year I am amazed at the level of compassion shown by our young people and staff here at All Saints and this year was no exception.

“The shoeboxes will bring a huge smile to the face of many children who have so far had nothing by way of gifts in their lives.”
