Barking and Dagenham College apprentice wins top award

A painting and decorating apprentice has picked up a nationwide award for his hard work and dedication.

Matthew Daniell won the title of National of Association of Shopfitters Apprentice (NAS) as part of the group’s Final Year Award.

The Barking and Dagenham College student, who works for the Cumberland Group based in Romford, said: “I was shocked to have won this award but am very proud to have done so.”

Dave Park, Cumberland Group’s CEO: “Matthew has been a delight to work with since he joined us. He’s popular with our staff and clients alike and thoroughly deserves to win this award.”

The 20-year-old, from Basildon, received his award at NAS’s recent autumn general meeting.

It is the third time Matthew has triumphed this year after winning both a college and regional contest.
