Barking and Dagenham’s pupils open river inspired exhibition at Boathouse Creative Studios

Pupils from schools across the borough have been taking part in the Rivers of the World project, which sees them learn about their local riversides and make artwork inspired by it.

On Tuesday, their work went up in an exhibition at Barking’s Boathouse Creative Studios.

Students from Dagenham Park, Riverside, Robert Clack, All Saints, Barking Abbey and Eastbury Community schools were featured in the gallery, which will be open until September 29.

The project saw students pair up with schools in Palestine, where pupils who created work about the Jordan river were able to compare with Barking and Dagenham’s creations.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a number of other events, including a riverside-inspired storytelling session on September 26, a poetry session on September 28, and a drop-in workshop led by the young artists on September 29.
