An aspiring Paralympics swimmer has made waves in a national competition for young disabled athletes.
Charlie Hyde was part of the winning Barking and Dagenham team to be crowned the South of England Panathlon champions in Basildon yesterday.
The 13-year-old, who attends Dagenham Park School, said there was a “great spirit” about the day.
Wheelchair rugby star Jonathan Coggan chatted to the School Road, Dagenham student after witnessing the team’s impressive displays in sports including boccia, table cricket and athletics.
