Students were given a lesson in money matters during the Barclays Money Skills Week.
The event, run with the help of the high-street bank and the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, was set up to help Barking and Dagenham College students control their finances.
Advice included managing money on a daily basis, how to shop on a budget, accessing credit and choosing bank accounts.
Workshops also gave experience of making the right choices with money. These included ‘Fashion on a Budget’ where students were given £30 to buy an entire outfit.
Chris Hearn from Barclays said: “We’re determined to help young people develop the skills they need in later life to manage money.”
