An infant school received a special commendation for its work with children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Thames View Infants, in Bastable Avenue, Barking, was honoured as part of Pupil Premium Awards, a government competition which rewards schools that make best use of their pupil premium funds.
The money is awarded to schools with children who receive free school meals or are in care and is used to raise attainment.
Claire Smith, deputy headteacher, said the school was delighted to receive the special commendation.
