A school choir in Dagenham received a special music lesson from a BBC choir ahead of their performance at this summer’s Proms classical music concerts.

Members of BBC Singers lead pupils at Manor Longbridge School through a range of singing and vocal techniques on Friday.

The students have a month to exercise their vocal chords before they perform with the Ten Piece Children’s Choir at the Royal Albert Hall.

About 30 children from the Scholars Way school will join 500 pupils from across the country to perform a piece by composer Kerry Andrew called ‘No Place Like’.

“The children are loving the experience of working with the BBC singers,” said acting head teacher Anne Tabrett.

“I’m sure they will all treasure the memory of performing at the Royal Albert Hall for years to come.”

The work, to be performed on July 29, drew inspiration from words submitted by children.
